Outros Territórios – Wind Turbine Installation

Selected project for the international call Outros Territórios.

"Other Territories" is a suite of ephemeral interventions proposed for a hilly neighborhood in Belo Horizonte (Buritis). The project imagines an instantaneous transformation of the landscape through the simultaneous occupation of the many stilt structures that support local buildings.

These forgotten, overlooked, and often strange spaces become sites of possibility—an open field for experimentation that reveals the latent potential of the existing city. The initiative tests new ideas, promotes exchange, awakens sensibilities, and demonstrates how modest interventions with limited resources can generate lasting change and open pathways for urban recomposition.

The Project
The stilts form the structural body that supports the apartments above. Their abandonment represents wasted energy and potential, while contributing negatively to the landscape.

This proposal introduces a wind-energy system using custom vertical-axis turbines connected to the public and building electrical networks. The generated energy is used by the condominium, with the surplus returned to the public grid.

These turbines operate with wind from any direction, generate low noise, require minimal maintenance, and can be dimensioned for other sites. Made of stainless-steel blades, they function as kinetic sculptures, reflecting light and the landscape as they rotate. Their placement within the stilts minimizes cabling and avoids obstructing airflow.

"Outros Territórios" é um conjunto de intervenções efêmeras propostas para o bairro Buritis, em Belo Horizonte. A ocupação simultânea de diversas palafitas transforma instantaneamente sua paisagem, revelando possibilidades latentes da cidade existente.

Pequenas intervenções podem gerar transformações duradouras, seja materiais ou institucionais, e tornar-se instrumentos para pensar soluções alternativas para a recomposição de um tecido urbano esgarçado.

O Projeto
As palafitas fazem parte da estrutura que sustenta os apartamentos. Seu não uso representa desperdício de energia e potencial.

Este projeto propõe a instalação de turbinas eólicas de eixo vertical, conectadas às redes elétrica pública e do prédio, gerando energia para o condomínio e devolvendo o excedente à rede.

As turbinas possuem pás em aço inox que funcionam como esculturas cinéticas, refletindo a luz e a paisagem. Sua disposição minimiza cabeamento e evita bloqueios de vento entre elas.
